Basra, Iraq - December 22, 2021

AWI already started works on the recently awarded contract for multiple Mechanical and Piping Works in Basra, Iraq. Saipem S.P.A issued the award to AWI to complete the said works in 6-9 months and is expected to run until 2022.

Among the major works AWI will perform includes Mechanical Completion of the Flare Stack Packages. This scope included the assembly of parts related to the Flare stacks, Tie-in works, Field Welding, and Non-Destructive Testing. AWI houses some of the most competitive local welders in Basra as AWI has been conducting its own Welding Learning Program inside its North Rumaila Camp.

Another scope under this contract includes the provision of Pipeline Hydrotesting and Valve/Fittings Removal and Installation.

Enka İnşaat Sanayi A.Ş. Iraq has contracted AWI to carry out concrete works for the Produced Water 2 (PW2) Project at West Qurna 1 (WQ1) Degassing Station 7 (DS7).

The PW2 Concrete Works activities include the construction of:

  • Backwash Clarifier Tank Foundation
  • Backwash Water, Recovered Oil, Recovered Water Transfer Pumps and Shelter Foundation
  • Control Valve of Recovered Oil Pump & Control Valve Of Backwash Recycle Pump & Recovered Water Pump Piping Support
  • Desander Skid Foundation
  • Nutshell Filter & Nutshell Filter Piping Skid Foundation
  • Oil Separator Foundation
  • Tank Area Pipe Support
  • Produced Water Transfer Pumps Foundation
  • Produced Water Transfer Pumps Shelter Foundation
  • Water Treatment Area Main Pipe Way

Apart from PW2, AWI was also contracted to perform civil works for other major WQ1 projects including the Major Tie-Ins DS7 with Renaissance Heavy Industries and Major Tie-Ins DS8 with China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation. Basra, Iraq - September 01, 2021

ExxonMobil Iraq Limited contracted AWI to supply and deliver diesel fuel at Basra / Burjesia and West Qurna 1 oil field. The contract will run from September 2021 to 2025.

Under the contract, AWI will supply diesel fuel as per ASTM Specification No. “D 95.” The activities include fuel quality monitoring and testing, bulk tank / temporary storage management, labor and transport to ExxonMobil designated locations at Field Operations Division Main Office Facility, Oasis Camp, Degassing Stations 6,7,8, 35MW Power Plant, selected drilling sites and MOD 300 facilities. The supply of fuel will be sourced locally from Basra Oil Company refinery stations.

Through the project, AWI has proven its capability to acquire the necessary licenses and capabilities to venture outside its traditional service areas. AWI has built a fleet of 10, 20 and 36 cubic meters of fuel trucks as well as hired experienced and certified local drivers and fuel dispatchers to enable efficient implementation of the contract.

Basra, Iraq - May 31, 2021

The China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC) subcontracted the civil works component of the Major Tie-Ins Degassing Station 8 (MTI-DS8) project to AWI. The MTI-DS8 connects new/ongoing major projects in DS8 (i.e., Produced Water, Industrial Water and Initial Oil Train projects) with the existing facilities in the station.

Valued at USD 3.5 million, AWI’s scope for the project includes the construction of foundations for the following:

  • Crude storages
  • Utility and separator pipe racks
  • Closed drain facilities
  • Process flare knock out drum and associated equipment

Subcontracting civil works to AWI for this important project demonstrates CPECC’s trust on the quality of AWI’s work as well as on the company’s ability to complete complex projects on schedule.

Started in May 2021, the project is expected to be completed by January 2022.
